A terrible road accident took place in our locality yesterday evening near the New Market area of Chattogram. The accident occurred around 6:30 pm and created a shocking situation among the local people.
According to eyewitnesses, a speedy bus coming from the city lost control while trying to overtake a truck. At that moment, a CNG auto-rickshaw carrying several passengers was passing by the road. The bus crashed into the auto-rickshaw violently. The sound of the collision was so loud that people from nearby shops and houses rushed to the spot immediately.
As a result of the accident, two passengers died on the spot and at least seven others were seriously injured. The injured persons were taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital by local people and firefighters. Doctors said that the condition of three injured passengers was critical.
The accident caused a huge traffic jam in the area for almost two hours. Soon after the incident, police arrived at the spot and brought the situation under control. The driver of the bus escaped immediately after the accident, but police have already started an investigation to arrest him.
Local residents blamed reckless driving and lack of traffic control for the accident. They demanded strict action against careless drivers to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
The accident cast a shadow of sorrow over the entire locality. People are still talking about the heartbreaking scene with deep grief and fear.
